In powder coatings the raw chemicals i.e., epoxy resin, hardeners, fillers & accelerators are being premixed in a desired formulation. Afterwards, the mixture should be melted & further goes to a dispersion process through an extruder and then being milled. The enormous majority of powder coatings using electrostatic spray deposition, or ESD, in which a charge being applied to the powder particles that allows them to hold onto their intended substrate despite being dry. After the workpieces have been sprayed, they are heated to a certain temperature and “cured” for a precise time. ESD is highly useful as it means the powder gets to stay in its form without the use of any liquids or additional materials requiring to be included. Thus, the powders stay uncomplicated and proper for heating without releasing unsafe chemicals such as volatile organic compounds. Consequently, we the powder coating is very environmentally friendly as no solvents & less waste involved.
